How search works

How results are ordered

Exact names and relevant matches come first. Search also matches partial names, places, offices, and sourced issue information. Alphabetical ordering resolves equal matches.

Donation totals, party affiliation, and paid placement do not boost a result.

Sources and coverage

Federal candidates come from official FEC records. Organization records draw on IRS data and official sources. State and local candidates require separate official or licensed election data.

2026 federal candidate filings across the United States; FEC registration does not establish ballot qualification.

State and local coverage currently includes sourced Ohio governor records only. Nationwide state/local coverage requires licensed election data.

Organization coverage is a reviewed selection, not every U.S. nonprofit.

Giving is enabled only after separate recipient, operator, and processor approval.

What does a listing confirm?

A federal candidate filing is not confirmation of current ballot eligibility. An organization record is not payment approval. Individual profiles show sources, dates, and whether giving is available.

We add an issue position only when a source supports it. Party affiliation is not substituted for a person's position.

AI answers

AI uses available directory evidence and links its sources. If the evidence is missing, the answer should say so. It cannot approve citizenship, donation eligibility, or a payment.

Corrections and updates

Open “Suggest a correction” on a listing to report a problem. Updates preserve source references. An unavailable data refresh keeps the last valid records and exposes a stale status rather than erasing the directory.
